Anchor Movin’ On Up!

Well folks, the big day is here. Our Sydney-based Anchorites spent the latter half of yesterday packing everything away to move to our new premises on Elizabeth street. The new office space is a full 168% bigger, wow! Anchor has literally moved up in the world; as of this morning we can be found at Level 23, 201 Elizabeth street, with a fabulous view over Hyde Park and the CBD. On a technical note, we’ve made some exciting upgrades to our switching infrastructure at SYD1. Half a dozen lower-capacity core switches have been replaced by shiny new Dell Powerconnect models, giving us a gigantic backbone with 10Gbps ports everywhere. Anchor Movin’ On Out!

It’s an exciting time at Anchor as another big move is in the works. We moved to the current premises at 230 Clarence about 3 years ago now. At the time we thought it was huge and had boundless plains to share, but strong business and steady recruitment has seen us grow to about fifty staff now! The exact date for the move isn’t fixed yet, but we’re prepping for the convoy to set sail sometime in late November. The destination? A few blocks east, just across the road from Hyde Park, and a substantial jump in elevation. In the meantime we’ve been doing a bit of spring cleaning, we’re getting rid of anything that we don’t need to take with us. The amount of stuff we’ve got lying around…

Seeing it, we were inspired to share our own little piece of home with you. Rent prices for inner-city office space have been rising steadily over the last few years, and smaller businesses in particular are starting to feel the squeeze. Rather than sitting around hoping for the real estate economy to cool down a bit, we made the decision several months ago to move.
