Settings - Quick reference

This section provides a brief overview of the important settings and addresses that you will need to know to use the Anchor web hosting service. Each section is coveredin more detail later in this document.

Domain names: Make changes to in real time, go to the domains area and choose the manage link.

Usernames and Passwords

Each web hosting account uses a primary username and password combination. This is used for access to the Control Panel, FTP and SSH services.

If email is stored in mailboxes on the Anchor servers a separate username/password is issued for each mailbox. Mailbox usernames are numbered and are based on the primary account username (eg username1, username2 etc).

Name Servers

  1. Primary: ns1.anchor.net.au (IP Address: 202.4.234.51)
  2. Secondary: ns2.anchor.net.au (IP Address: 202.4.235.59)

Email Servers

  1. Incoming (POP3) mail server: mail.yourdomain.com.au
  2. Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.yourISP.com.au

(Note: Outgoing/SMTP mail services are not provided)

Temporary/Staging domain

All Anchor web hosting accounts are configured with a temporary or staging domain. This domain is used to allow access to your hosting service whilst waiting for domain name registration/redelegation to occur.

The temporary domain is in the form of:

Control Panel

http://www.yourdomain.com.au/control or, http://yourdomain.com.au.tmp.anchor.net.au/control

Your primary username and password will be required to log in to the control panel.

FTP Service

  1. Hostname: ftp.yourdomain.com.au, or yourdomain.com.au.tmp.anchor.net.au
  2. Your primary username and password will be required to log into FTP services.

SSH service

  1. Hostname: yourdomain.com.au, or yourdomain.com.au.tmp.anchor.net.au
  2. Your primary username and password will be required to log into SSH services.

PostgreSQL database

  1. Hostname: localhost
  2. Username: username
  3. Password: stored in the 'passwords.txt' file in the home directory of your web hosting account

MySQL database

  1. Hostname: localhost
  2. Username: username
  3. Password: stored in '.my.cnf' file in the home directory of your web hosting account.
