What’s the difference between VPS & Dedicated?
A dedicated server is provisioned on your own individual equipment. For a VPS we take a very high end server and divide it up amongst multiple virtual servers. A virtual server offers improved scalability and reliability compared to a dedicated server on the equivalent monthly spend. For low to medium traffic sites, a VPS is an ideal choice. For websites which require more resources than a VPS can provide a dedicated server is your best option.
Can I upgrade easily?
With hundreds of servers and thousands of websites under our management it’s fair to say we’ve performed a few upgrades. Some upgrades are straightforward and inexpensive, whilst others are more complex. From inception we can formulate a plan to control your short term hosting costs whilst ensuring future upgrades can be performed cost effectively.
Should I use your shared hosting or VPS?
Shared hosting offers a very cost effective fully managed hosting environment which is ideal for entry level to medium traffic websites. It’s an ideal solution for sites which don’t require custom application configuration. For sites with increasing traffic volumes, storage requirements or customised application stacks a VPS may be required. Shared hosting is the best starting point and it’s usually best to stay there whilst you can. Rest assured that we’ll let you know when it’s time to upgrade.
