Remote Management
Having deployed our trademark management across hundreds of our own servers, we looked beyond the walls of our own data centre. Anchor now manages major deployments for the likes of GitHub and Huggies on server infrastructure hosted by third party data centres both in Australia and internationally.
Managed hardware requirements
Anchor requires a reliable platform on which to perform our magic. A rigid requirement for offering remote management is the provision of managed hardware from a reputable hosting vendor which must include:
- 24 × 7 phone support
- 24 × 7 response and rectification of hardware faults
- A reliable, multi-homed managed network
- Server hardware by HP, Dell, IBM or SuperMicro
Managed hardware means:
- Provision & maintain servers in a data centre environment
- Maintain network connectivity
- Maintain the server environment
These services are normally provided by a traditional hosting vendor (eg Rackspace, Softlayer, Terremark etc).
Remote Network Services
The same software based firewalls, load balancing and monitoring systems of choice we deploy in our own hosting facility are deployed locally under remote management services where required.
Vendor Management
Anchor takes responsibility for all interactions with the managed hardware vendor. This includes fault resolution management, provisioning, configuration change requests, response to vendor requests.

Remote Configuration management
Anchor remotely manages all server configuration, including the operating system installation.
This means we do not require any support for the application stack deployed on the managed hardware (eg we can deploy Debian on a host where only Red Hat suppport is offered, provision PostgreSQL where only MySQL support is offered).
The systems used to provide remote management services are the same as those deployed in our own hosting facility.
