Troubleshooting email problems
There is nothing worse than not being able to get your email. If your email program is coming up with an error, it is important to write that error down. If you use Microsoft Outlook, or Outlook Express, the error will often look like this '0x800CCC19' or similar.

- Try google searching for the error code, often this will give you the answer.
Try logging into webmail with your email address and password at http://www.anchor.com.au/webmail
Try disconnecting and reconnecting to the internet, verify that you are online by going to a website you have never been to before, I recommend www.google.com.ar (Argentinian Google), as google is very very very rarely down. If you cannot get there, call your ISP, as it is a connection problem.
- Telnet to the mail server directly, This may seem hard to do, but it is a quick and easy way to work out where the problem is. Perform the following commands in a dos (shell)prompt:
''telnet mail.yourdomainname.com.au 110''
- Your screen should show this:
Trying 126.96.36.199... Connected to mail.yourdomainname.com.au. Escape character is '^]'. +OK
- If it doesn't, disable all anti-virus and firewall software and try again. If you do not get the screen above you cannot connect to our server at all. If it shows a different number to 188.8.131.52, you are still resolving old records, call us. If you are able to get that login screen, and can login to webmail, the problem is with your email client. Check all the settings to make sure they are correct.
- Remember, 7 out of 10 email problems are caused by anti-virus programs that scan all incoming and outgoing email, 1 out of 10 problems is a forgotten password, 1 out of 10 is a problem with our server, and the last is network problems between your computer and ours.
