Dedicated server options

A range of optional services are available for your dedicated server. Note that some of these options are included in some support packs as a standard component. See also the support packs for more options.

Managed firewall: Shared secure port

A high availability hardware based firewall is configured and managed for your individual server. You define the list of ports that you require open and Anchor takes care of the rest. Security advice is provided free of charge in order to assist you define a secure ruleset. The shared secure port does not protect you against other Anchor customers behind this firewall. (pricing)

Managed firewall: Private secure port

The private secure port builds on the shared secure port service with the addition of vlans to protect you not only from other computers on the Internet but also from other Anchor clients located behind the same firewall. (pricing)

SMS server monitoring

Monitoring of your server can be provided via sms and email notifications. Network connections and individual services such as web or email servers on your equipment can be monitored. (pricing)

Tape backups

Tape backups provide a multi level system to protect your data. A centralised backup service is run on an independent network that takes a snapshot of all the data stored on your server each day. It copies, compress and encrypts it on to a centralised backup drive array which is copied on to tape each day and rotated offsite. Tape backups protect you in the event of HDD failure or catastrophic failure (such as fire, flooding, burglary) or accidental deletion of files. Detailed documentation of the tape backup service. Onsite disc backups

Onsite disc backups provide an area for your data to be stored on an independent centralised disc array. This means that if data on your live server is lost due to hardware failure, accidental deletion or malicious activities you can safely restore from an onsite backup. Since the data is stored on discs on the local network it can be rapidly accessed when needed. Backups can be automated by Anchor or you can control when and how data is stored.

Onsite disc backups provide a more affordable means of backing up your data than offsite tapes whilst still providing you with peace of mind.

Remote Reboot

If your dedicated server crashes at any time of day or night the remote reboot service gives you the capacity to reset the power over the Internet via a web browser. (pricing)

DNS hosting

Secondary or Primary and Secondary DNS services can be provided. DNS hosting provides a complete zone management service, all updates are made free of charge. (pricing)

Secondary mail services

If a single dedicated server is being used to provide email services, secondary mail services can be run from our mail servers to prevent mail bouncing in the event that your server is not contactable. (pricing)
